Students planning to attend De Anza on an F-1 visa must use the special application for international students – which is NOT the same as the application used by U.S. students.
You can apply online by clicking on the button below. Be sure to follow the instructions for creating an account and provide all information that is requested as you complete the application.
ImportantIf you are currently holding a visa that is not an F-1, and you are planning to change your immigration status while you're in the United States, you should contact Angelica Strongone at firstname.lastname@example.org before applying to De Anza College. De Anza will not an issue an I-20 for change of status for students who currently hold a B-2 visa.
To determine your eligibility for admission, please submit these items:
Create an account and complete the online application. You'll need to upload each item listed below.
English Proficiency Test Score (Required)
Upload a copy/original proof of English proficiency test score, taken within the last 2 years (ex: if the year is 2018, your test must have been taken between 2016-2018). A minimum score on any of the following examinations is required for admission
- TOEFL - 61 iBT (De Anza College ETS code is 4286) or TOEFL PBT 46 or higher
- IELTS - 6.0
- iTEP - Level 4
- EIKEN - 2A
- Duolingo - 95 DET (50 DET older version)
- Pearson PTE Academic - 45
- Cambridge - 175+ on advanced or proficiency exam
- GTEC CBT - 1100

Financial Statement (Required)
Upload an original, official bank letter that meets our requirement of estimated cost and dated within the last six months. (For example, if you are submitting for the Jan. 30 deadline, your letter must be dated betwen August - January).
If your bank is located in the U.S. and a bank letter can't be produced, you may submit a bank statement that meets our total estimated cost.
Upload an official school transcript. If you are under age 18, you must submit proof of high school completion or the equivalent. All documents must be in English or officially translated into English. For students who attended schools in the U.S., please submit an official transcript from all schools you've attended.
Application Fee (Required)
We require a $75 USD application fee to review your application and determine your eligibility.
Please note that the payment of the $75 application fee will be waived for fall 2020 applicants who apply on or after April 22, 2020 through July 31, 2020.
- This fee is nonrefundable.
Shipping Fee (May Be Required)
If your admission decision packet needs to be mailed outside of the U.S., we require a $75 USD shipping fee if you are applying for winter, spring, or fall 2021 start terms. The shipping fee will not be charged for mail within the U.S. or for students applying for the fall 2020 start term.
- This fee is nonrefundable.
Under 18 Authorization (May Be Required)
If you are under age 18, you need to have authorization from your parents or legal guardian to attend De Anza College.
Dependent Form (May Be Required)
If you have dependents who will accompany you on an F-1 visa, you need to complete this form. Your financial statement must also show additional funds for each dependent.
If you are already enrolled at another U.S. college or university, you must follow a different procedure to take classes at De Anza.
De Anza College has agreements with various language schools such as ELS, Kaplan and others. Students who are interested in attending De Anza College but did not meet the English proficiency score can choose to attend one of our partner English language schools. Once the proper level is achieved, the student can transfer to De Anza College and receive full admission.

De Anza College uses the quarter system for its academic calendar. New international students are admitted three times each year – in the fall, winter and spring. (We also offer an Intensive Summer ESL Course.)
For prompt processing of your application, and ample time to secure a visa, do not wait until the deadline.
