Financial Report & Request For Funds for Area B ASCCC meeting
- Alicia presented the Academic Senate Financial Report. Some discussion took place about the expenses.

The Area B region represents Academic Senate Presidents and Vice Presidents from the greater Bay Area (from the South Bay to North Bay) CA community colleges

- Karen announced that the October 29 Academic Senate meeting will be a Joint Academic Senate meeting with Foothill Academic Senate at Foothill College. She reminded Executive Committee that they were sent an Outlook meeting invitation to the joint academic senate meeting, and the purpose is for both colleges’ Senates to discuss ASCCC Fall Plenary resolutions prior to the Senate delegates/Presidents attending and voting on resolutions at the Fall Plenary.
- Bob S - requested that the Executive Committee be sent the resolution passed last Spring by the body stating lack of confidence in the current CCC chancellor.
Results of Student Survey on Food, Housing, and Transportation Insecurity
- Mallory Newell and Ola Sabawi presented the results of the survey conducted in Spring
2018 on Food, Housing, and Transportation Insecurity. A significantly higher number
of students participated in this survey than in past surveys. Mallory noted that it
was the first time that she received emails from students requesting to participate.
The 11% student survey response rate is significantly higher than the typical 5% survey
response rate. Having well over 50% of the Survey respondents report housing and transportation
insecurity is a sobering result to note. Senators noted that resources such as campus Food Bank, the weekly Farmer’s Market, and the
Safe Parking program at West Valley College should be widely disseminated.
