Introduction to Translation and Interpreting
Course Description
This course will cover the historical origins, theories, techniques, and practices of translating and interpreting. Students will focus on comprehension of source language texts and accurate expression of content and style in translations. Theoretical readings will be used to familiarize students with strategies, techniques, and challenges faced in the translation process.

MAND-051.-01Z: Fully ONLINE. This class is belonged to Translation and Interpretation Certificate. All participants must be fluent in Mandarin and English and have a speaking proficiency equivalent to that of an educated native speaker. This is an online class with SOME scheduled meetings as noted in the class listing. The rest of the class can be completed independently each week on the student's own time. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.
