The EOPS program was very important to me throughout my college experience at De Anza. The program had consistent schedules every term which allowed me to plan ahead, knowing what I had to do. Its 2 mandatory check-in appointments per term with a counselor was extremely flexible, allowing me to do schoolwork and receive the help I needed to stay on track for college at the same time. The counselors I met were always really friendly, supportive, answered questions, gave suggestions, and much more. Without their advising, I would have been much more lost, so I am very grateful for their hard work. The EOPS grants also allowed me to support myself and stay motivated toward my success. After I transfer and complete my education at SJSU, I plan to take a year break to participate in lots of volunteering or part-time work. It will help build up my skillset and experiences so I can be more qualified for a fulltime job.

Being a part of EOPS has made a huge difference in my college journey. As a first-generation student and someone who works part-time while going to school full-time, it hasn’t always been easy to balance everything. But the support I received from EOPS helped me stay grounded and focused. The counseling appointments kept me on track with my academic plan, and the early registration benefit made it easier to get the classes I needed. Even something as simple as the book voucher helped relieve some of the financial stress so I could focus more on studying and less on how I was going to afford my materials. More than anything, the EOPS staff always made me feel seen and supported. I didn’t feel like I was going through college alone, they were always there to offer encouragement, advice, or just to listen when I was overwhelmed. That support played a big role in helping me transfer and stay motivated, even during tough times. After completing my education, my goal is to become a healthcare provider. I want to serve communities like the one I came from, where care isn’t always easy to access, and where trust in the system can be hard to build. EOPS helped me stay on this path, and I carry that support with me every step of the way.

The support and services from EOPS were major support that contributed to my success here at De Anza. I was able to get financial support with any school supplies that were needed for my classes; this was great to have because it reduced my worries about having to get whichever supplies I needed. Furthermore, most of the classes I needed to take for my decided major, were really popular and in high demand. Since they would fill up very quickly, it was reassuring to have the priority registration thanks to EOPS; so every quarter I was able to be one of the round of students to register for classes and assure I had my place in them. Lastly, all the check up appointments throughout each quarter helped me stay informed about what I was doing and what I needed to do in the future quarters. Thank you so much for the help these past two years.
