    9 a.m.-Noon – Anti-Bias Training with Child Development and Education

     

    4-5:30 p.m. – Retreat Kickoff: Learn Ceramics!

      • Ready to get your hands dirty and unleash creativity? In this kickoff event, we'll dive into the art of ceramics with Creative Arts faculty and staff members.
      • Location: Meet at the SSH Division office (L-13) first, before the activity gets underway in the Ceramics Studio

    9:30-11 a.m. – MOMENTUM and Faculty Wisdom Discoveries with Dr. Ameeta Tiwana

      • Ameeta Tiwana is a remarkable professor whose journey from immigrant to educator has shaped the hears and minds of De Anza students for more than three decades. With an unyielding dedication to Anthropology, her teaching is fueled by achieving student equity and a profound passion for understanding.

    5-7 p.m. – SSH Faculty Social at Tipsy Putt

      • Get social with the SSH faculty! Tee off and unwind at Tipsy Putt, where indoor mini golf meets great company and refreshing libations. Join us for an evening of camaraderie, laughter and relaxation as we celebrate the vibrant community of our division. See you there!

    2-3:20 p.m. – SSH Equity Core Team: "Student Voices"

      • We'll be hosting a conversation with a classroom of De Anza students about their past and present reading habits and preferences to explore pleasures, meanings and difficulties in our current reading practices. We will reflect on questions like: How are our current students reading? What is meditative reading?  How can we read efficiently and effectively and with focused intention? Is reading an equity issue? Professor Jesus Quintero will join us to discuss his many years of experience teaching writing and reading to first-generation college students. Join us for a dynamic discussion that highlights meaningful reading experiences and proven strategies.
